SILLY AND KENNY

These little guys were left at a pet store as the person who owned them didn't have time for them anymore.
I had been going in to visit them off and on then made my decision to have them as part of my house hold.

My good friend Sylvia came with me as she knew I had been talking about purchasing a bird for years. She paid for my cage and gave me some of the cage gymnastic equipment that the birds love. We are going to share these guys during the nice weather.

I discovered Kenny can talk but the only thing I have made out is, "Pretty Bird." He also says a phone number plus other things which I can't distinguish.
   ..

Rosie is wondering if they are a snack for her but the other dogs just look at them.---So? What is next Mom?

Jan.29/09-- I had been watching Kenny doing gymnastics giving me the impression that he was asking me to get out of the cage.   Ray had come for lunch so after lunch, I made sure the dogs couldn't get into the room and we went to visit the birds.   I  gently put my hand into the cage and Kenny crawled up my arm and sat comfortably on my shoulder . When I went to touch him he walked around my shoulder to the other . Back and forth he went with Ray enjoying this thoroughly . Silly will sit on my hand but she isn't ready for an adventure like that.

Feb.2/09-- Sylvia came to visit the birds in hopes that Kenny would talk. At first he was nervous of her and wanted me but eventually he hopped on to her finger and then up on her shoulder.  It didn't take long before he settled there picking at her hair and rings then started to talk , repeating everything he knew . When counted it came to 39 distinct saying or phrases.. e.g See you later. He's kissing me mom. ha ha ha , Kisses kisses, Is he tame?  I'll call you later. Bye for now. Rufus,. It's Petie. It appears this little guy likes attention as he wouldn't talk for me tonight. Maybe if a stranger comes here, he will prove himself again.  What a Little Doll and Silly  is getting tamer as well so maybe they will talk to one another someday.  How I wish!!

Feb. 11/09-- Well what a shock today! Kenny came on to my shoulder and sat there chirping away . Silly had been chirping aggressively in her cage when she decided to fly towards me and Kenny. She flew over my head then on to the floor then back up beside me. To get her back into her cage, I just picked her up and petted her head then put her back into her cage.

Feb.14/09-- Well what fun I had today as both birds came on to my shoulder when I was cleaning them . Silly is getting very tame. Someone told me if a person has a pair of birds they fall in love and won't be friendly with their owner. This is not the case here.

Feb.15/09--Today the birds are talking up a storm but I can't see which one it is. I found out Silly chats as well. Kenny is teaching her I guess????  I have noticed they like Elvis which is great by me. I am really enjoying these little guys and I am happy I chose to rescue them. I am going to take them out to see if I can hear exactly what the chatting is all about .

March 05/10 -My birds had to be places in the living room few weeks ago which is much more sunny when I was having some renovations completed in the rec rm area. I don't think they were happy up there because they didn't chat as much.. Wednesday they were returned to the rec rm and the chatting was making me laugh. Love my birds.

I had fun with Silly today. I let Kenny sit on my shoulder and then I left the door to the cage open. Well low and behold little Silly came out and sat on the upper part of the cage and then flew to me. She was right above my head then went walking on the ceramic floor. I let her walk for a while then she was back up on the chair next to me looking very proud of herself. I decided to put Kenny back into his cage hoping she would come to me but no, she flew back onto the floor. I was wondering how I would catch the little monkey but she allowed me to pick her up without a fuss and also let me pet her head and back without biting me.

Feb. 19/09

Cheryl came today and these birds put on quite the show for her as they hopped on my shoulder . Silly kept pecking at Kenny as if jealous of him or wanting to be the centre of attention. He took it well jumping away from her then going back to where he had been sitting then when it came time to put them back they wanted to stay on me. This was fun for Cheryl to watch.

Feb.28/09

Both little birds are coming regularly on to my shoulder. Today i sat for at least 10 minutes while they sat on my shoulder , back to my hand , pecking at my watch braclet , rings or cheek then pruning their feathers. Sooo------- cute!

Silly and Kenny have matured well and are conversation pieces around here when people come to visit. They have a strong vocabulary now but talk only when they feel like it. They have been healthy because I have read about their care in a booklet and on line. They love to sit on my shoulder to watch T.V and take a few flights around the rec. room. If Silly ends up where I can't find her, I just call her and put my arm out and she is right back to me. Kenny prefers my shoulder. Adorable little pets.

Nov.22/09

Kenny is the Chatter Box and his favourite words are "MOMMIE'S BABY BIRDS"

I enjoy them very much but I don't want baby birds right now so I removed their nesting box. I haven't seen any eggs on the floor, all I know is they sure love each other . I am lucky to have such good birds .

JAN.30/10

KENNY IS CHATTERING AWAY AND MAKING THE WOLF WHISTLE. WONDER IF IT IS FOR ME? HA --SO CUTE!  I WONDER IF HE WILL MORE TALKATIVE WHEN I HAVE MY SLIDING DOOR BETWEEN US? WELL I WON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT HIM FLYING UPSTAIRS AND GETTING EATEN BY THE DOGS . SILLY WILL BE HAPPY TO HAVE THE FREEDOM TO FLY AROUND THE ROOM BUT. KENNY IS MY SUCK WHO LIKES TO SIT ON MY SHOULDER. AND CHAT OR JUST WALK ALL OVER ME.

SOME ONE TOLD ME THEY WOULD MOLT AND ALWAY BE A MESS BUT THESE ARE NOT LIKE THAT .I GUESS I AM FEEDING THEM PROPERLY . I AM NOT ONR BIT SORRY I HAVE THEM AND THEY SING AND MAKE ME HAPPY . SURE WISH RAY COULD ENJOY THEM LIIKE I DO BUT THEN MAYBE THEY WOULD WAKE HIM FROM HIS MUCH NEEDED SLEEP AT THE END.
